I think the last time I felt embarrassed about anything was my High School Senior Prom night [details omitted ]… A week later, I didn’t care and neither did anyone else.

Whether I’ve grown thick-skinned or just indignant, I really don’t care about what anyone thinks about me and personally, have found life to be soooo much easier that way! There are probably times when I should have felt embarrassed, but its so off my radar, I wouldn’t even know.

The beauty of humanity and free speech (in places that endorse it), is that everyone can have their own opinion, no matter how baseless or prescient, and I think that’s pretty awesome. Unless it effects my pocketbook or personal safety, which of course, is a totally different conversation.

Slightly related, I never expected to get “the wave/gesture” (aka the “wassup” as we call it on the West Coast) from other bikers while on the road, as I assumed scooters were the red-headed stepchild of the two-wheeler world, so its kind of cool when I do.

I know I have issues. Sometimes they get the better of me. I knew that when I moved to the heart of Geeksville, USA that I would be dealing with a significant cost of living increase. And here’s where the hypocrisy kicks in…

Sure I’ll pay a 100% markup on rent and won’t bitch about it; gas and groceries are a good 30% more expensive but whatareyagonnado?

But a 500% markup on ramen?!?! WTF?!! Okay work with me here:

In my old, blue collar town grocery store, dried up ol’ nasty poorboy ramen runs 10 for $1 (as it should be!). 8 for $1 when they’re feeling stingy. Today at the “cheap” grocery store in mid-Google Town, they raised the price on ramen noodles from a ridiculously priced 5 for $1 to, get this, TWO for a dollar? That’s 50 cents a piece?!?! That’s ludicrous!!!

I know that doesn’t sound like a lot in a town where people drive Audi A8s and Teslas as daily drivers, but still, give a guy a break wouldja?.

(FYI- I wrote this on my iPhone and it only took 15 minutes. #fail)

Yesterday at the Post Office a woman walked up to me and said, “you look like a movie star”. Perplexed, all I could say was, “No- Im just a dude in a tie”.

(and that’s good enough for me!)

My shipment of Girl Scout cookies has arrived (yes- “shipment”, as in they came in a box!).   I gave up a box of Tagalongs to my crew as a gesture of good will, since they’ll be getting their quarterly evaluation in the next week.

But I can never think about Girl Scout Cookies, without thinking of this timeless classic from our friend Cookie Monster!

Sometimes the comment spam I get on this blog astounds me.  Here’s one that had me laughing, then scratch my head, then laugh again, then say, “uh, what?!?!”

“You know, people unceasingly enact comments when anything is predicted to happen in 2012, like “obviously that is if the world is subdue here.” You do achieve that the Mayans suggest the world will finish on Dec. 21 (or 23rd)?
