All Moved In. Sort Of.

Im all moved into the new place finally. Well sort of…

Skipping the last seven weeks (you read them in previous posts), yesterday my friend and made the treacherous trek you’ve become so famiar with if you follow me on the Twitter. Only this time I was in the MINI and he drove a loaded to the gills, 14-foot rental truck. Somehow we managed to make it up in only 6 hours!

At our average rate of speed, gas mileage went to all hell. As the guy footing the bill, I was more concerned with time than any other detail. That and my car not falling apart. Again. another tale for another post.

Upon arrival we unloaded the truck as efficiently as possible. I am now fully moved into my new place. If stacks of unlabeled boxes and crates counts as moved in. And so begins the transformation from a two-bedroom storage unit, to a swank, swinging, bachelor pad! Soon. I promise. :)

Knee deep in Geeksville

Today I got a little more in tune with the fact that I’m officially in Geeksville-

The day started with a meeting, where I saw my first iPad actually being used “in the wild” for something other than WeRule (*cough @leolaporte *cough), after lunch I received my first “company phone” which now makes me the only person I know with two iPhones!

After work I saw the Google compound for the first time, thanks to a portable GPS screw up (who knew google and bestbuy have the same address?)

Finally, Segway’s for sale- in a Best Buy?!?

Welcome to Geeksville!

The MINI Got New Shoes Today…

I’ve been driving on Pirelli’s for almost 4 years and never felt unsafe in my H-rated Pirelli P6s,  even at V-rated speeds (shhh!).  But when it came time to get a new set of tires, Yokohama’s W-rated S-Drive‘s happened to be on sale.  Go figure.  (actually, they were out of stock on my first choice of Kumho Eksta ASTs, which is probably a good thing).  I look forward to putting “the Yoks” to the test, but that-  as well as actual photos of them on my car- may not be for awhile.   :(

The S.drive (“Sport drive”) radial is Yokohama’s Ultra High Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans. The S.drive radial is designed to use Yokohama’s technological advancements to deliver extraordinary grip and handling on both wet and dry roads…

NOTE: If you’ve ever wondered how the “Speed Ratings” on tires translate into MPH, kaltires.com has a handy chart or you can geek out with TireRack.com’s more than you ever wanted to know write-up on the history of tire ratings.

My New Place (Preview)

Remember the time where you got a new schedule and you didn’t get to watch your favorite show anymore and then months later you tune in and think “wait- wtf did I miss?!?!” because you can tell a bunch of sh*t happened about you’re totally out of the loop?

Yeah well, that’s all my fault this time. Haven’t had time to keep y’all up with the news because frankly, I’m too damn busy! (Technically I should be either asleep or working right now!)

So, skipping all the back story, I wanted  to post a couple pics of #mynewplace, but I’m too damn busy. Details to follow  :)

MINI Roadster/Coupé – Only $2,200 a month!*

Today’s MotoringFile article implies that the Roadster and Coupe should be available sometime in 2011.  I anticipate one to teeter on the $41k mark the way I would want it equipped.  Since I definitely intend to purchase one,  if I wanted to pay cash in full, I’ll have to sock away about $2,200 a month starting now!

For the sake of math, I spec’d out a topped out 2010 JCW Clubman at $42,595.  To get a payment in a reasonable amount of around $600, I’m looking at a $10,000 down payment!  That’s only around $500 a month I’ll need to shove under the mattress, post haste!   EEK!!
