iPhone App: “Voice Band” Turns Your iPhone Into A Recording Studio. Sort Of.

Me and eight other people on Internet® can truthfully say “I don’t spend money at the iTunes App Store.” (Heck- I don’t even spend my spare time in the iTunes Store!)  This is an important fact to keep in mind as I discuss a new app I’ve only discovered about 10 minutes ago.   If I were worth my weight in Snicker Bars, I’d have found it myself instead of hearing about it on the Twitter.   Nonetheless, now that I know of it, I pretty much *have* to give it a mention, and my money.

When I read the description, “Turn Your iPhone into a Recording Studio” I figured I’d be looking at a $20 “controller” that works with an existing, $400+ music recording program. Much to my amazement, check out what THREE BUCKS gets you these days!…

While the resulting composition isn’t good enough quality to start shopping around to the record labels (I’m sure some creative person will prove me wrong on this),  it does provide a decent enough reference for you and/or your musician friends to remember and learn the parts, or simply to impress the chicks- If you’re into that sort of thing.

Point being, I might actually have to pony up some dough on this program!

You can purchase and download “Voice Band” on iTunes here. But only if you promise not to make lame songs with it!

How to: Link to a Specific Tweet

Funny thing about Internet® is, (s)he always knows the answer to any question I might have. Today I asked Internet, “how do I link to a specific tweet?” Internet®.  immediately hooked me up with lexblog.com who already answered this question.   So, don’t think I’m all Mr. Smarty Pants. I’m actually Mr. Knows-how-to-look-shit-up.

The short version (thanks for Lexblog for not suing the smartypants off me):

“How do I find the URL of an individual tweet?

To do so, click on the date & time the tweet was published.. Once you click that, you will be brought to the individual page of the tweet. From here, copy the URL of the page and use that in your hyperlink.”

Here’s a photo I’ve illegally hot-linked to from the aforementioned website:

If you need more specific instructions from there, well, you should just check out the post in its entirety.

Quote of the Week…

My favorite quote of the week comes from a disgruntled client (which is usually the case):

“So you’re trying to tell me that there are only two people available to help an entire campus?”

(btw, the answer was “Yes. That is correct.”)

Zuckerberg’s Twitter Envy, Part 11:

After thinking about it for awhile, I can empathize with Marky Z’s ongoing nerd battle with Twitter, reminiscent of my most inferior (yet, in retrospect, comedic) memories of High School.

Reading Mashable‘s discussion of Facebook’s latest “me too”- the Retweet- I mean, “via” feature, it is so obviously an attempt to remain the most popular kid in school,  it’s not even funny.  Well actually, it is friggin hilarious.

I was a nerd once too.  A band nerd to be exact.  As an awkwardly anti-social teen, I didn’t have much going for me as far as social skills, but with time and talent, managed to secure a position as First Chair Clarinet, thinking I was “all that” for over two years straight!   Then one day out of the blue some frumpy girl from the Midwest comes along and within weeks, takes the First Chair position.  *MY* First Chair position!   That hurts!  Especially when its the only thing you’ve got going for you!

Most people under 30 might not even know how Facebook came about, or that it was Zuckerberg’s sheer nerdiness and desire to get chicks that brought the social powerhouse into existence. (No worries- the Facebook Movie is coming out soon enough. No- really).   So while on the surface it seems as if Facebook is simply copying other companies’ best features either due to a lack of imagination or out of an attempt to stay dominate in the social networking space, there are those- including me, who can see the true motivation behind many of the decisions made over there at Facebook HQ:

A battle to be the most popular nerd in school.

When whatsherface stole my first chair position I fought back the only way I knew how- I became a drummer.  Because drummers are cool.  Fortunately I was actually good at it, much like Marky is good at programming.  However, I didn’t have the acquired hubris of Marky, so when it came time to fight for Drum Captain I let someone else grab that spot.  Perhaps I would have made a better Captain, but frankly, I didn’t care that much.

Zucky on the other hand, reminds me of the nerd with just enough self-esteem and ego that he isn’t going down without a fight, determined to win a silly popularity contest no matter how stupid he looks.   No worries Marky-  I’ve been there. I understand.  Good luck with that.

Random MINI Babe [photo]

I found this photo over at BlueMeeny‘s  “Cooper Cuties” collection. (and you thought it was just me. *blush*).

Show him (or her) some love and tell him (or her) Bushfinger sent cha!  He (or she) has some great photos of lovely ladies and Minis that I will likely be stealing “highlighting” here in “Random MINI Babes” over the next few weeks.

I can’t read Chinese but I think the caption says, “Why yes, this is an awesome Cabrio”.
