Abstract: The “Follow Friday – Extended Version”, is where I take a few moments to explain *why* I think you should follow my recommendations for the week.
Follow Friday Extended Version, 12/11/09: People I’ve Known in Real Life For Over a Year:
This whole “online friend” phenomenon is both interesting and sad at the same time. Through modern technology we now have several channels to befriend people, and even become close and intimate (not like that!) with people we have actually never met in real life. This can be seen as a good and bad thing, depending on your perspective and profession. This week I would like to introduce a short list of my friends you can “meet” on Twitter, that I’ve actually know in real life for more that a year before I ever got onto this Twitter thing…
@dbwilldo
Wordpress magician, Podcasting Veteran, and all around cool dude. As Co-Host/Co-Producer of WhiteRoofRadio, I met DB “irl” after listening to his show for over a year. And guess what, he’s a righteous dude!
@tomasthanes
Old school coder/programmer and computer guy, I just have to listen to this guy because he’s seen it all. And he’s funny too.
@theodorefisher
Film-maker, Photographer, Producer, Teacher, and more. You may have seen Ted show up on previous #FF lists. He’s just that cool. We’ve been friends longer than 20% of the people on Twitter have been alive. So there.
@willknapp
Director, Producer, Editor and Music Industry insider. Since the early days of college, Will and I have shared many a pitcher of adult beverages! You can find him producing commercials, TV spots, and EPKs for the next big wave of Rock/Metal upstarts.
@volkanuzun
Volkan is a .Net fanboy, but I won’t hold that against him. He’s got his finger on the pulse of upcoming tech and web from the “world according to Microsoft” and provides lots of insight to the .Net community. Which means 80% of the time, I have no idea what he’s talking about. I hear he plays a mean racquetball as well.
So there are my #FF picks for this week. I feel better suggesting people to follow in this “Extended Version” format, since it gives you a little more insight, as well as an opportunity to make an informed decision. If the concept catches on I’ll be happy to take the credit!
