Unnerved @ the Coyote Challenge
My friend and I ran another 5k today in my own backyard, which made for a series of interesting, emotional events…
- Guy asks what size shirt?

- I say "I didn’t order a shirt", guy says, "okay"
- I ask for my "goodie bag", other guy asks "what size shirt?"
- I say "medium", I get my goodie bag.
- Warm up, horn blows, I run.
- I cross the line w/ the counter reading 22:10!
- "22:10?!" I say, "That’s my best time ever!"… (wait for it)
- Times are posted. Friend comes 4th in his division. Me? Not even on the board?
- I wait patiently, then impatiently. I bug someone, she says she’ll check it.
- I stare at the times some more- 3rd in my division?! Isn’t that medal? (wait for it…)
- Medals are handed out. I’m not one of them.
- I go home convincing myself I’m not angry.
- Once home I proceed to get more and more angry.
- I check scores. Not posted online yet.
- I take a nap.
- I check scores. Not posted online yet.
- I do some chores and wash the car.
- I check scores. Not posted online yet.
- I refrain from complaining online.
- I complain online.
- I check scores. Posted!
- My posted time is: 22:56? What the…
Oh well, at least according to the list I came in 4th in my division*. I should be happy, right?
*(which will never happen again, since all the badasses who dominate the lower aged division, will be in my division next year!)
