And by “new” I mean, almost 15 years after registering the domain name, “irieman.com” has just undergone its perhaps 6th or 7th total revamp into the “Last One Out…”* blog. *Technically, the title comes from the phrase, “Last one out, lockup please!”

Too Thin? (In a Time-Management Sort of Way)
The other day I was chatting with my glamorous roommate about the projects and goals and responsibilities and to-do lists, etc. we as responsible adults must manage and maintain. I quipped that no matter how I try to map things out, I can’t seem to get a handle on it, and she (of all people) suggested, "it sounds to me like you’re spreading yourself too thin".
Coming from Ms. Overachiever, I found this to be both a bold and profound statement. I decided to take a step back and make a list. Actually, I’m making that list right now!
IN NO SPECIAL ORDER:
- personal blog (livejournal)
- mini blog (bushfingermini)

- tech blog (ATGNAT)
- auto blog (BTV)
- music blog (BMP)
- two myspace accounts (#1, #2)
- 3-4 forum contributions a day @ M|U (kinda like a blog)
- audio podcast (BMPGBS)
- video podcast (BTV)
- work two people’s jobs (aka "work")
- pamper my mini (wash/vac once a week)
- consume podcasts (10/week)
- hit the gym (1-2 hrs/day)
- spot reserved for something i’m sure i’m forgetting… Oh yeah! Facebook!
Yeah, I guess that is kinda stretching it, huh? Iif only I had the time to hunker down and read "Getting Things Done". Which reminds me- I’ve got to clean out the MINI today! :)
iriemandotcom posted a photo:
Somehow this makes the perfect iPhone wallpaper. (Original photo found on pixdaus.com/pics/CV5PN29Saxht.jpg. I don’t know who the original photographer is).
[Ed. note: Just to show you what kind of week I've been having, I'm just now getting around to posting the results of my most recent 5k "event"...]

As the subject states, last weekend I ran another 5k and came in FIFTH PLACE!! (cough*inmyagegroup*cough). LOL. Actually, I am extremely happy to be in 5th place in my age group, and 54th overall, in a sea of 450 runners? Not too shabby!
But here’s the real news: 24:01?! **insert record scratch** Yes, that’s minutes folks! And a good 2 minutes faster than any time I’ve ever recorded on the ol’ treadmill! So, was it being inspired/lured/mesmerized by hotmomdotcom in the Fuzzy Bunny track suit? Or the not lifting weights for an hour before running 3.2 miles? Either way, no one is more proud, shocked, stunned, amazed, and about to be stepping it up a notch– more than me!
My friend ran (walked) the event as well, and as she pointed out, “you don’t have to win- you just have to beat *that guy*”, pointing to the result sheet showing the guy who got third place in my age group. And she’s right! The third place guy still gets to have his name read wrong on the loudspeaker, walk onto the stage, and receive a medal. yeah, I think I wanna be that guy.
A co-worker brought some Crackheads to work today, and there was much rejoicing!"Crackheads are white and dark chocolate covered espresso beans, and dang are they ever tasty! Each 1.3oz box has about 30-32 Crackheads inside, which packs a nice punch of about 200mg of caffeine per box. And 200mg of caffeine is a very sweet treat indeed." (@ thinkgeek.com)
Is Obama the new Bob Marley?
Last night I went onto the iTunes Store because I had heard that Obama’s Weekly Radio Address is available as podcast. Being the lazy/resourceful person I am, I typed “obama” into the iTunes search window. I expected to see a lot of Daily Show clips, official footage, news shows, and political podcasts. However, what I *didn’t* expect to see, was all the songs about Barack Obama!
It seems a lot of rap artists have something to say about Obama, which is not surprising. But so do artists from from almost every other genre as well- country, pop, “world music” such as Calypso, Soca, and even Congolese! And it doesn’t stop there- reggaeton, mariachi… Seriously- mariachi! But the most popular genre of Obama songs appears to be Reggae, which I find quite interesting. And I’m not talking about some piddley no-name indie artists either. That is, unless you consider Cocoa Tea and Steel Pulse “little”. (For those not into Reggae, these two artists are about as A-List as it gets!) I then sauntered onto YouTube and BitTorrent to find even more artists singing about the 44th President of the United States.
I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong, but I am not aware of any other U.S. president that has had even *one* song written about them (not counting the ones that mock them are string along sound bytes to a techno beat), not to mention a whole boat load. Everyone seems to love Obama (well, not everyone, but you know what I mean). Given the rock star treatment Barack already received from the media and everyday people, and I now as I’ve discovered, the music community as well, this all leads to my conclusion/question/speculation– Is Obama the new Bob Marley?
My co-worker mentioned that this pro-Obama scene we’re experiencing is very much like when John Kennedy was elected but of course, with the 21st century twist. But I’m not old enough to remember that, so if you are old enough to share your own insights, please feel free to do so!
Tokyo Auto Salon 2009 (Video)
A friend sent me the link to this video of the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon (think “Hot Import Nights”) which was captured rather nicely. In fact, I’m a bit jealous as to how well this video was put together.
